When Erika Scott told Kurt Home, Kingston Junior High Builder's Club advisor about the Cowling Creek Forest
Preserve and the work that needed to be done there, both of them thought this was a great opportunity for
their spring community service project.  They invited their parent organization, the North Kitsap Kiwanis,
to join them. Over 20 youth and adults worked hard pulling ivy and digging up Himalayan Blackberries,
two of the divisive species that are crowding out the native vegetation in the forest. After a brief lunch of
delicious pizza, the crew went back to work and mulched the young trees that were planted in the winter.
Thank you Kurt Home, Erika Scott, Brandon Stinson, Cody Stewart, Jackie Gfeller, Jessica Randall, Emily Kelleigh,
John Bruce, Pete Deboer, Bob Lee, Jim Salter, Jay Zischke, John Coyne, Nancy D'Archangel, Betsey Cooper,
Lori Scott, Jeff Reinking and the other members of the Nooschkum family!
