FOMB Bird Surveys

Starting in 2010, FOMB conducted monthly bird surveys on Miller Bay.  Audubon’s Fay Linger designed the study and led the first year after which FOMB continued on their own using the excellent birding skills of Don McPherson of Suquamish and Michelle Amicucci who lives on Miller Bay.  The counting continued for another two years, concluding in August of 2013.

In September of 2017, Michelle and Don agreed to again lend their expertise to monthly bird counts and FOMB was off and running, anxious to see if there were any trends in the numbers after an almost 5 year break.

In 2017 and 2018,  FOMB has worked with Kitsap Audubon to add the Miller Bay count to their expanded North Kitsap/Port Gamble Circle Christmas Bird Count.

If you are interested in learning more about the birds that hang out in Miller Bay, your participation is encouraged on these monthly counts.  Whether you are a beginner or an experienced birder, the FOMB team will take you under their wings!  Contact Nancy at darchangel@embarqmail to be placed on the monthly bird count schedule.
