Friends of Miller Bay, a long-standing environmental organization, is looking for new board members who care about protecting the forests, wildlife, and open spaces that make North Kitsap such a special place to live.
Whether you have experience serving on nonprofit boards or are simply looking for a meaningful way to give back, we'd love to hear from you.

Open positions for 2027 – 2029 Term
Outreach & Education Program Director: Lead educational programs, community events, and outreach efforts, including website and newsletter content. Coordinate volunteers, committees, and subcontractors as needed.
Partnerships & Collaboration Program Director: Build relationships with local organizations, schools, and community partners to expand conservation and educational opportunities.
Future leadership opportunity:
If you're interested in growing into a leadership role, we’re looking to attract candidates for FOMB President, responsibilities include:
Lead the Board of Directors
Represent FOMB to the public, partnership organizations and governmental agencies
Facilitate Board meetings and manage annual business planning
Support Board members in accomplishing their goals & objectives.

What does board service look like?
Board members serve two-year terms and participate in monthly meetings (2 hours)
Monthly Zoom meetings
Quarterly in-person meetings
Volunteer opportunities and project work based on interests, skills, and availability.
We know everyone has different schedules and strengths. Some members enjoy helping with events, while others focus on preservation projects, stewardship, education, or organizational leadership.

Although we're a small, volunteer-led nonprofit, we've had a big impact over our 35 years. Together, we:
Helped protect more than 450 acres of forests and wildlife habitat
Helped establish Cowling Creek Forest Preserve and Miller Bay Preserve in collaboration with Great Peninsula Conservancy (GPC)
Were honored with the 2026 Kitsap County Earth Day Award
Partner with Kitsap County and GPC to preserve land for future generations
