The Trust Land Transfer Program Parcel Application is moving to the next phase of the application process!
The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) notified FOMB in February 2026 that our application for protection of the 40-acre property, located upslope of the Miller Bay Preserve, was moving forward in the Trust Land Transfer program process.

This spring, we sent a second round of requests to gather more letters of support and boy, did you deliver, thank you! We got another 18 letters for a total of 66 plus another 25 petition signatures showing support. This will have an enormous impact on the success of our application.
In early April, we received an invitation to present the project to the DNR TLT Advisory Committee on May 27, 2026. FOMB President, Michael Flynn and myself (FOMB Preservation Program Director), along with a representative from Kitsap County will present the project and answer questions. From there, the Committee will score each application and submit a ranked list of projects to DNR for review and approval, likely later this year. We will let you know as soon as the Committee makes their decisions.
Friends of Miller Bay will take the lead in future stewardship efforts should this transfer occur. We will welcome all friends and neighbors to join us in restoring the land and returning it to a magnificent example of our heritage Pacific Northwest forest! We thank you in advance for helping us get to this point in the lengthy process. It is clear our community really values our bay, our watershed, and our forest lands!
