Farewell to a Friend

Chuck Bishop was a dear friend to us and to Friends of Miller Bay. He epitomized “Friend” in every way and  was a gracious, generous, welcoming influence on Miller Bay. He was an active volunteer and avid supporter of Friends of Miller Bay.

Once we joined the Board of Directors, we were quick to recruit Chuck as our official “greeter”. He and his wife, Yvonne the amazing Hostess of “Miller Bay Mixers” were often our check-in people for meetings and events. At our first-ever Member Appreciation Celebration in September of 2025, Chuck greeted and directed folks to available parking. We knew he’d be the perfect person for this task, but he proved to be exceptional—actually recruiting folks off the street who became generous contributing members!

Chuck cared deeply about preserving the natural beauty of Miller Bay. And oh, how he loved living here! When he became ill, quite suddenly at the end of the year, he requested that his hospital bed be placed in the alcove of the master bedroom, so he could look across the Bay at Mount Rainier and take in the beautiful sunrises each day. He lived fully and with sincere gratitude for his many blessings. He was an inspiration to so many! Though a world traveler, (he visited 110 countries and 27 territories, most in his retirement), he never failed to appreciate the beauty, peace and gift that his home provided him. Chuck’s family shared that “he lived fully, loved deeply, and had no regrets”. He will be dearly missed but never forgotten.

With both heavy hearts and heartfelt gratitude, for having experienced such exceptional friendship,  we are honored to accept a tremendous charitable donation, on behalf of Friends of Miller Bay.  Yvonne Bishop is bestowing a multi-year Memorial gift in honor of her husband and life partner, Charles Bishop. We are humbled and thankful for their generosity and support.
