FOMB Seeks NEW Board Members for 2026

Board positions are a Term of Service—Not a Life Sentence!

Since 2024, Friends of Miller Bay has come a long way! From securing our 501(c)(3) status and updating our bylaws and standard operating procedures, to defining clear roles and responsibilities, we’ve transformed from a grass roots organization into a well-structured nonprofit with strong momentum. These behind-the-scenes efforts have been all about making service on our Board of Directors manageable, meaningful, and—dare we say—fun? Now, we’re ready to keep building with a team that reflects the energy and creativity of our community.

As part of this growth, the Board is moving to staggered terms in 2026, with two-year commitments as the standard. This way, no one feels “stuck for life” and new voices can join in regularly. Current members have proven that meetings are flexible and accessible—some have Zoomed in from across the globe, even from the middle of a trans-continental and an international bicycle ride!  We meet monthly to stay connected, share updates, and keep the organization moving forward without overwhelming anyone’s calendar. Board members have been able to juggle the joy, distraction and time demands of becoming new grandparents while serving (4 grandchildren have been born during this board’s current terms!)

Looking ahead, we have exciting openings to fill.  We’re seeking a Secretary, and a Director of Partnerships & Collaborations to help us connect with like-minded groups and expand our impact. We’re also looking for a Chairperson of Events & Fundraising to work closely with our Outreach & Education Program Director in planning fun, engaging events that bring the community together.  If you’ve been thinking about getting more involved, now’s the perfect time to join us—bring your ideas, your energy, and your love for Miller Bay!
